Delve into the energetics of listening with Kate Weare Company's Associate Director Douglas Gillespie, assisted by KWCo company members. Offering principles and insights from Weare's creative process, Sensing Space Within focuses on the sensations that inform our survival, such as peripheral awareness, reflex, synchrony, magnetism, and an ongoing desire for intimacy. During the intensive participants are guided through specific company repertory, specialized partnering practices as well as exercises in kinesthetic and choreographic problem-solving. Encompassing all body types and experience levels, this intensive provides a lively, challenging framework toward self-awareness and sensitivity in partnering. Some of the repertory material is based from Weare's recent work, Marksman, co-commissioned by American Dance Festival and The Joyce Theater.
