Curtis Robert Macdonald, Composer

Curtis Robert Macdonald is a saxophonist, composer and producer based in Brooklyn.

Originally from Calgary, Canada, Curtis moved to New York City in 2003 to attend the The New School University for Jazz & Contemporary Music. He has released two recordings as a bandleader, authored a book on saxophone technique and teaches sound design at Parsons, The New School for Design. Curtis is a member of the great American composer, saxophonist and flutist Henry Threadgill’s “Ensemble Double-Up.”

He is a member of, and has collaborated with award-winning Aszure Barton & Artists since 2010, and he is creating a score for Larry Keigwin's choreography for Juilliard School's New Dances 2014. This year, Macdonald is working with Kate Weare on Unstruck Sound, to premiere at BAM in February 2015.
