Kate Weare Company Inaugural BAM Fisher Artist-In-Residence

This year Kate Weare Company was given the honor of being the inaugural BAM Fisher Artist–In–Residence. This residency began in mid–July and provided KWCo with 3 weeks of unlimited studio time and 2 weeks of unlimited theater time in BAM’s beautiful new Fishman Space.

Dancers T.J. Spaur, Douglas Gillespie, Jacquelyn Elder and Leslie Kraus.

The residency gave us an unprecedented opportunity to work with our lighting, set and costume designers in a real-time collaborative process, to refine and fully integrate design elements in the only environment where they can truly be seen, the theater.

Dark Lark composer and electro-acoustic cellist, Christopher Lancaster.

This has marked a turning point in the company’s ability to realize our vision for the design and aesthetic feel of a work. By providing the time and space, BAM has thrown open a door for us. Dark Lark's NY Premiere was presented in BAM's Next Wave Festival on Nov 6-9, 2013.
