Luke Murphy is a dancer whose instincts are underpinned by humanism. He has a liquid, daring way with momentum and a thirst for efficiency and speed. In a process that is utterly natural to him, Luke finds his own way inside the movement as well as toward connection with other dancers in a fleeting moment. As a dance maker, I really value Luke's emotional intelligence - his constant impulse toward honesty. I never sense that Luke does something purely for visual effect, but to bring himself closer to feeling, and in this way, he's a beautiful mover who speaks firmly and fluently from his gut.
